Old English lamb "lamb," from Proto-Germanic *lambaz (cf. Old Norse, Old Frisian, Gothic lamb , Middle Dutch, Dutch lam , Middle High German lamp , German Lamm "lamb"). Common to the Germanic languages, but with no certain cognates outside them. Old English plural was lomberu .
