We think that the handiest materials are the ones that serve multiple purposes . Case in point is the Command hook. These trusty plastic guys are lightweight, inexpensive, easy to find, and have saved many a renter a chunk of their security deposit. We all love them, BUT did you know that they can be used for projects that don’t involve hanging a picture? Here’s how! Today’s tip comes to us from those “purveyors of practical” over at YouTube channel Thaitrick. In their video , they feature a whopping 11 ideas on how to use Command hooks. Here are some of our favorites from the list.

  1. Car Organizing Tool We all know how difficult it can be to keep a car tidy and organized —it’s not like the things come with too much storage space to begin with! So, if you are one of the many who find themselves searching for lost items in the car, just install one of these adhesive hooks onto a space of the interior. It acts as a great spot to hang a shopping bag, a first aid kit or even an extra pair of flip flops!
  2. Key Holder Have a little one that has the tendency to get ahold of your keys and misplace them? Let’s not pretend like we haven’t all been there! To outsmart your tricky toddler, install one of these plastic Command hooks to a wall and get in the habit of hanging your keys on it every time you walk in the door. Pro tip: Focus on sticking the hook at a height where your kids can’t grab them!
  3. Phone Charging Station Thaitrick Sure, there are several kinds of phone charging stations that are available for purchase, but they are often clunky and pricey. So, why not make a makeshift one of your own? Simply install two plastic hooks about 2-inches apart next to a convenient power outlet. Place your phone horizontally onto the hooked top ends and plug in to charge. Genius!
  4. Custom Toiletry Rack Lacking serious counter space in your bathroom? If so, create more by using a couple of plastic hooks and a shower caddy. Stick your two Command hooks onto the wall of your bathroom. Be sure to choose your space carefully—do not expose it to too much moisture or steam or else the adhesive will wear faster than normal. After both hooks are safely attached, place the shower caddy onto the top-end of hooks by making use of the holes on either side of the basket. Toss in your favorite toiletries, and you’re good to go!
